You’ve put in the work. You know what you’ve built.
The question is whether the room will see it too.

The PeakWaves
Founder Readiness Diagnostic

A complete, private founder decision and preparedness engagement designed to help founders decide which rooms matter, whether they are ready for them, and how to enter them with more strength.

Also available as a referral resource for investors, incubators, accelerators, and other founder-supporting groups that want to help founders walk in stronger.

Confidence before the conversation.
Clarity before the room.

Why it matters

The room isn’t just listening to the pitch. It’s reacting to everything.

You’re probably closer than you think in some areas, and further off than you realize in others. Not because you haven’t done the work. It’s that the way it all comes across hasn’t caught up yet.

That gap between what you know to be true about your business and how the room actually experiences it? That’s where opportunities quietly slip away, before anyone even says no.

What we look at together:

  • Clarity — Can someone quickly understand what you do and why it matters?
  • Credibility & Signal — Does your positioning hold up? Do your materials tell a consistent story?
  • Business Readiness — We help ensure your business is actually ready for the opportunities you're pursuing, working on both the business and materials as needed.

Why Us?

Lisa H. Carter

“Lisa possesses the laser focus of an Olympic athlete and the gifts of a coach — a rare combination.”
— Matt Gibson, Certified Olympic Trainer

I bring that same focus to every founder I work with — sharpening the vision, pressure-testing the model, and making sure you walk into the room confident.

Background

I grew up watching my parents build two businesses from the ground up. That shaped something in me early: a deep respect for what it takes to build something real.

I began my career co-founding a high-tech alarm company with my mother in 1984. I slept on the floor of the dispatch office when times were lean and became a certified alarm tech to understand the technology from the ground up.

Then came PriceWaterhouse in 1990, where I audited emerging enterprises from seed capital through post-IPO. On my very first engagement — an immediate post-IPO IBM spin-off — I rolled up my sleeves and advised the controller on how to streamline their accounting database. It was in that moment of helping her that I decided I wanted to be a consultant who offered PriceWaterhouse-caliber consulting to small businesses and founders who were shut out of the room by Big 8 prices when they needed it even more than the companies that could afford it.

My manager noticed and wrote: “Lisa possesses a strong sense of the concerns of the business owner.”

In 2000, I went out on my own as a consultant. My first founder was building a hybrid for-profit/nonprofit online platform. I coached him through the funding application process using Guy Kawasaki's The Art of the Start. Though his business model was eventually overwhelmed by YouTube, he was completely prepared for his conversations at Craigslist HQ.

For years, I’ve worked extensively with founders in both for-profit and nonprofit ventures, helping them strengthen their positioning and prepare for critical conversations and proposals.

This diagnostic service was inspired by an invitation to an angel conference — I realized how many founders needed the same preparation I provided to my first clients, including one who said: “Lisa, collaborating with you is like having you in my brain and accessing things I was not aware were in there that are essential to my vision and business plan.”

Founder to founder: my dream has always been a strategy-led consulting firm modeled after the Big Four, but at rates that don’t shut founders out of the room.

That’s why this offering exists — with intentional pricing that makes world-class preparation accessible. When you work with me, you’re helping me reach my goals as much as I’m helping you reach yours.

"

Lisa's working tirelessly to help me realize my vision in a thoughtful, strategic way — delivering not only what I thought I wanted, but also the structure and perspective I didn't even know I needed.

How We Work With Founders

Team Approach to Founder Success

Lisa and Wahkie have different styles but work seamlessly in tandem to support founders, tag teaming in ways that play on their strengths.

How Lisa Works With Founders

Clarity through deep immersion

The room is never neutral.

I help founders see what the room will notice, question, and quietly react to — so you can strengthen it before it costs you.

I immerse myself in your materials and operations until I have laser focus on all of it. From that deep analysis, I ensure your business is set up as efficaciously as possible — strong in every aspect that investors, partners, and customers will examine.

If something doesn't withstand scrutiny, I'll identify it.

If something can be strengthened, I'll show you how.

This is thoughtful, immersed strategic work from someone who knows how to see both the business and the room clearly.

After the Diagnostic

What can happen next

Some founders get what they need from the Diagnostic alone. Others need a clearer plan, stronger preparation,
or sharper market direction.

When more support is needed, the next step usually falls into
one of three categories:

1

Written Plan

90-Day Strategic Growth Roadmap

A written plan built from what the Diagnostic uncovers. It clarifies priorities, sequence, and the smartest next moves for the next 90 days.

Best fit when:

  • you need direction more than hands-on support
  • the issues are clear enough to map
  • you want a plan you can implement yourself or use as a starting point for deeper work
2

Founder Preparation

Founder Readiness Incubator

For founders who need to become clearer, more credible, and better prepared for the conversations and decisions that matter most.

Best fit when:

  • your story, credibility, or communication still needs work
  • you need stronger preparation before key conversations or opportunities
  • the issue is not only the market plan, but your readiness inside the room
3

Market Direction

Go-To-Market Strategy Sprint

GTM means go-to-market — the way a business turns its offer into demand, opportunities, and revenue.

For businesses that need sharper market focus, clearer offer structure, and a more practical path to demand.

Best fit when:

  • it is not yet clear who the right customers are
  • the offer or positioning needs refinement
  • the next steps for growth need to be put in the right order

The Diagnostic helps determine which path makes the most sense, so you are not guessing or moving too early.

Common questions

The smart next step before the rooms that matter

Whether you’re a founder getting ready for what’s next or someone who wants to help a founder walk in stronger — we’d welcome the conversation.

For Investors, Incubators, Accelerators & Fund Managers

One of the best things you can give a founder you believe in is the chance to walk in clearer, stronger, and better prepared

If you know a founder who could benefit from a clearer signal, a stronger business narrative, and a more grounded read on which opportunities are truly the right fit, this is a meaningful resource to place in their hands.

The Diagnostic doesn’t just prepare founders for the room — it strengthens the business itself. Lisa brings the perspective of someone who has co-founded companies, audited emerging enterprises, and sat on both sides of the table.

Founders who walk in prepared reflect well on the people who sent them.
